Our schedule of matches has run out of dates for the fall semester, as finals week fast approaches. This was a very fun semester, we ran into some complications but overall we worked through it. I am trying to formulate an effective, fun, and fair playoff system.
My main idea right now is to just continue this season into next semester (and have just year champions instead of semester champions) keeping the records we all have now. Next semester, we will only schedule one round of playing each other, then the rest of the weeks will be devoted to a single elimination playoff. Our records will account for what seeding we receive in the playoffs. The winner of the playoffs is the winner of the year.
In my mind, this allows for each team to get a fair shot at every other school. It will eliminate the idea of the two semester winners playing each other. It will not take an excessive amount of time for each battle. And everyone gets a chance in the "post-season" so statistically, everyone always has a fair chance to win the championship. Even if a team has no wins during the season, that team can still beast through the playoffs. If a team goes undefeated, the could suffer some bad luck or lack of judgment and lose in the first round of the playoffs.
How does this sound for everyone? If you have other ideas or comments please feel free to post :-) Thanks for reading and for being involved in this

hello everyone. our season is winding down as the holiday approaches. on Nov 12, we had PSU defeat UT, GWU and VT's match was postponed. This past weekend (Nov 19) UT overcame GWU by a score of 4-1. Please check the "results and stats" page to be sure I accounted for everyone's wins and losses. This coming weekend there are no matches because of thanksgiving. The last scheduled match of the semester will occur on Dec 3 between PSU and GWU. Thanks to everyone for participating, have a nice thanksgiving, and hope to talk to you all soon!

well now that we are back down to our original 4 schools, we are seeing less matches since the schedule was originally designed have 6 schools. Last week Penn State defeated Virginia Tech 5-0, while everyone else did not play. This weekend, we have UT facing PSU and GWU vs. VT. good luck to everyone

As previously stated, the battle between PSU and PCC continued yesterday evening. PSU was up 2-1 going into the last 2 battles. PSU won the fourth battle, earning them the victory. But then PCC withdrew from the league over a dispute. We are all very sad to see them go. Whenever you have a match scheduled against PCC, treat it like you owuld a match for GC, since everyone has had the chance to battle them one, our records won't be thrown off.
For future reference, if you want to have a battle over wifi (which is very awesome) please please be sure you have a secure connection. If anyone is known to purposely disconnect to avoid a loss, that will result in an automatic loss for that school on that week. We go by the honor code in putting our pokemon data into PO, we need to abide by that in all battles.
Good luck to everyone in your matches this weekend.

After Excadrill and Thundurus being banned, the metagame was sure to be disturbed. I'm sure all of us are adapting well.
This last weekend saw UT defeating GWU by a score of 4-1. PSU and PCC held the first actual wifi battle of the IPL this season, but ran into some problems. After nearly 3 hours of playing with connections, only 3 battles were completed; and the score PSU 2, PCC 1. The last two battles will continue this evening.
Thanks to everyone for participating in this, I'm so glad to see so many people showing their skills. Don't forget to give your opinion on the recently proposed battle format, and please check the rules before each match to be sure everything is clear.

Week three has gone by and we are getting along fine. In this past week, VT beat GWU by a score of 4-1, also PSU upset UT by a similar score. PCC did not have a match last week. It seems all of our mechanics as far as rules and meeting times are working out. Week 4 will see GWU facing UT and PSU vs PCC.
We had a suggestion on our site to have every individual battle of a match be decided by 3 individual battles. Each player would battle his/her opponent three times and whoever wins 2 battles earns one point for their team. This would help with hax determining battles, but it would also make matches very time consuming. Please give your opinion on this issue on our forums. Also, feel free to weigh in on how to work a possible playoff system. Thanks and good luck guys!

Week 2 ran much more smoothly than week 1, it's good we got all the bugs worked out. UT won this week over PCC, making them the only undefeated team so far this season at 2-0. VT overcame PSU by a close score of 3-2. Thanks to everyone who participated.
It's not too early to start thinking about how to structure a possible playoff system. There was a suggestion of combining the Fall and Spring Semesters, but making the spring semester shorter (only play each other once), and using that remaining time for playoffs. If anyone has any ideas, post them here on the site! Thanks and Good luck next week!

Hi everyone, thank you all for participating in this second season! Before we discuss some issues, I must inform everyone that Grinnell College will not be able to pariticpate this season until further notice. They do not have enough players at the moment, but they are working on it and may join up later in the season. Since the schedule was already made, if you have a match against Grinnell (GC), you will not have a battle that week. It will not count as a forfeit on their part, just no battle. I hope this is not a problem for anyone. If you want to have a battle just for fun, contact someone and work something out.
We ran into some bugs during this first week, some of them were my fault. I forgot to add explicitly Darkrai to our ubers list, even though we were to battle with Smogon's rules. I have also just updated the schedule section with the time zones for each school, so please pay attention to that when scheudling your matches.
In regard to dreamworld abilites, the link in the rules section are the only DW abilities allowed here. If you battle on PO, your team must fit into the preset guidlines of the Smogon OU tier. If you want to battle on the DS, which is awesome, you cannot use unreleased DW abilities (that would involve hacking). Unless otherwise mentioned, all battles are assumed to be on PO and this is again thanks to no flat battles on BW wifi. When battling on PO, please use the wifi clause in addition to the other standard clauses.
Please be sure you contact you opponent before the weekend and work out a battle time and method (DS or PO), keeping in mind time zone differences and integrity in creating real life teams on PO.
I think that's all the problems we have, now onto the results for week 1. UT defeated VT, and PCC beat GWU. PSU had GC scheduled, so PSU did not have a battle this week.
Sorry for the wall of text but thanks for reading and I hope to hear from everyone soon! Good luck next week!
